THE REIKI CLUB BLOG: SERVERS VS PRIESTS (SOUL TYPES CONT'D)
Share
Priests and Servers are both inspiration specialists, concerned with the well-being of others, serving the greater good, seeking to improve the quality of life for all. The Priest is the cardinal role and the Server is the ordinal role. If inspiration is likened to shepherding, Priests watch over their flock and lead them on to better pastures, while Servers look out for and tend to those in need.
Server souls embody an energy of service, care and helpfulness. As with Priest souls, the consciousness of Servers is inspiration-oriented. But whereas Priests seek to inspire the masses, Servers seek to improve the lot of individuals in more hands-on, down-to-earth ways. They are naturally caring and helpful souls who live to be of benefit to others.
Servers
Servers are drawn to roles in which they can attend to others’ needs — not because they are “less than” others in any way, but because they are directly in touch with our common humanity. This selfless capacity is something all souls aspire to, but Servers are already there by default. As such, however, the Server is often easily exploited and, historically, has been more vulnerable to enslavement.
Servers make up 25% of the global population — there are more Severs than any other soul type.
Rarely seeking the limelight, Servers love to work behind the scenes and inspire us on a one-to-one level. They are charitable people quick to take on the problems of others if they feel it will ease any suffering. Generally reserved, Servers are not prone to wild behavior or extreme exaggeration, instead choosing to seek those "simple pleasures for simple folks."
Excelling in any of the service occupations, Servers make good doctors, nurses, teachers, diplomats, and have become indefatigable workers in the retail industry. They instinctively know they are gifted in meeting the needs of others, and therefore can feel frustrated if they are not allowed to serve. Sharing a similarity with the King, Servers like to "control" a situation, or be in charge of how the needs of others should be met. It is not unusual then to see a Server adopt a "my way or the highway" attitude if they are not allowed to call the shots in situations related to their services. Frustrated Servers can become angry, or in worst case scenarios, highly manipulative or combative if they are not allowed to control what they feel they do best.
Regardless, it's important to cherish the Server for the favorable work they do, and try to avoid the natural inclination to take advantage of their services. Servers can easily start to feel like doormats after a while, and with their unquestioning willingness to take of care of both our physical and spiritual needs, it is little wonder they are so often victimized or enslaved by less than scrupulous predators that prey on their noble intentions. Servers are beautiful beings that deserve much praise and gratitude for the wonderful contributions they give to society, and the world.
Priests
More than any other soul type, Priests feel a sense of mission, a higher calling, a need to make the world a better place. They do so by igniting and galvanizing the same sense of purpose in others.
Like Servers, Priest souls are both inspired and inspiring. But whereas Servers feel driven to help specific individuals in need, Priests feel driven to move everybody on to higher things. Different Priests will define the highest good in completely different ways, particularly as they evolve through the soul ages. The thrust, however, is always the same: to catalyze change in others, to promote a better way of being.
Most priests nowadays don't work not work in a religious context, especially in the West. Psychology has taken over from religion as the new authority of mental and spiritual health, with Freud and Jung as the "high priests". They can be equally inspired as coaches, motivational leaders, community activists or musicians.
Being so committed to what they envisage as a better way, Priests have a habit of seeing where others are going wrong and trying to put them right. Having this sense of a higher good or better way constantly in the back of their mind, current life events and situations are often judged in relation to it. It can be hard for some Priests to utter a sentence without seeming to include some sort of inspirational insight — or perhaps just a moral lecture.
They can also be taken aback to find that others aren’t immediately on board with their vision of a better way. As a result, they often have a stern look in the eye that says something like, “There is much wrong with the world … why can’t you see it? There is obviously a better way … why aren’t you making it happen?”
A high-frequency role, Priests may experience difficulty grounding. This can sometimes lead to obsessive patterns of sexual behavior in a subconscious effort to be more in the body. Such sexual outlets do not normally come from a place of shared intimacy, and the other partner might soon feel frustrated. Priests can also cause annoyance due to the high level of moral conduct they expect from others. Righteous indignation can certainly be a by-product of this behavior, and the Priest will suffer the condemnation of their peers until they learn that these displays of superiority are not conducive towards raising the consciousness of their subjects.
Overall, Priests are emotional, high-spirited, and brimming with energy, and they approach life with determination and purpose. Priests are truly on a mission. They are usually late to bed and early to rise, and rarely does a day go by when they don't find a way to either improve themselves or the people around them. This can lead some Priests to become run down from the unwavering intensity of their zeal. Although they may grow impatient with those who seem hopelessly stuck in the self-inflicted sands of inertia, the hallmark of the Priest is still compassion, and if we only learn to listen to their healing words and utopian visions, that shining star that has seemed so impossible for us to reach might one day become attainable.
